The Poem They pour a promise into the mold—
an arch to carry us through.
But the metal cools into a fist,
and the sky beneath it narrows.
What was meant to be crossed
becomes a checkpoint of shadow.
Stone remembers being open;
iron only remembers weight.
We walk beneath and feel
the difference in our shoulders.
