The Poem Somewhere a chair keeps its shape
around a man who is not there.
His pen, mid-sentence, dries.
We say his name to keep it warm.
Prove he still turns in his sleep,
prove the dark has not swallowed the vowel.
We do not ask for freedom yet—
only for breath,
only a single flickering page
to say: he is.
