to a place I never left from.
The map insists I belong
where my breath has never been.
Twenty of us,
then a thousand more behind—
a tide made of people,
pulled by a hand that isn't the moon.
Somewhere a door I knew
is painted a color I'll never see.
The sea keeps no receipts.
Only the arriving remembers.
