The Poem Lines of silver, mapped in ice,
Where the river splits the map in two.
We once spoke in a single breath,
Across the silent, pine-scented wind.
Now the ledgers open wide,
And heavy ink begins to dry.
A price is placed on every bridge,
A tax upon the open sky.
The forest does not know the toll,
But we must pay to keep it whole.
