The Poem They counted us in tens.
Twenty out, and more behind us.
My shoes still hold this city's dust.
The window gives me clouds,
then ocean,
then a coast I do not know
wearing my own name badly.
Somewhere below, a life
with my key still in its lock.
The plane does not look back.
Numbers do not grieve.
But I do.
